Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (Adults) with 2+ years of acute care experience for a Level II trauma center in Reno, NV. The role requires RRT certification, Nevada state RRT license, and BLS/ACLS/PALS; travel assignment with 3x12 shifts, weekend coverage, and potential unit floating.

You will use Epic for charting, perform respiratory procedures for a patient range from newborn to geriatric, and document patient records.

Qualifications

• RRT certification required.
• Active Nevada state RRT license required at submission.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required before start.
• Minimum 2 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience.
• Recent critical care experience required.
• Completion of at least one prior 13-week travel assignment.
• License required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Care for critical care, adult general care and pediatric patients.
• Work 3x12 schedule with rotating days and shifts.
• Weekend and some call shift coverage required.
• Float to other units up to competency level.
• Use Epic for charting with orientation or testing out.
• Perform respiratory procedures to improve cardiopulmonary conditions from newborn to geriatric.
• Document patient records and department logs.
• Stay current with advances in respiratory care.
• Provide a positive patient experience with clear communication.
• Work at Level II trauma center with stroke accreditation and large capacity.
• Cover minimum of 2 major holidays; may pick up additional shifts.
• Must live outside a 60-mile radius; 13-week break required between assignments.
• RTO must be submitted with application.

Requirements

• Active Nevada state RRT license required at time of submission
• Must apply for State of Nevada Point of Care Analyst, Director of Point of Care, or General Supervisor of Point of Care license prior to start
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience required
• Recent critical care experience required
• Completion of at least one prior 13-week travel assignment required
• License required if applicable

Responsibilities

• Respiratory Care Services department providing care to critical care, adult general care, and pediatric general care patients
• 3x12 schedule with rotating days of the week and varied shifts
• Weekend and some call shift coverage required
• Floating to other units may be required up to competency level
• Uses Epic for charting, with training available during orientation or ability to test out
• Perform respiratory therapy procedures and protocols to improve cardiopulmonary conditions for patients ranging from newborn to geriatric ages
• Conduct thorough patient assessments to guide protocol-based care decisions and interventionsMaintain proper documentation of patient records and department logs
• Stay current with technological advances and clinical applications in respiratory care
• Deliver a positive patient experience through clear communication and service recovery practices
• Level II trauma center with stroke accreditation, 800 inpatient beds, and 80 ER beds serving a 500-mile radius
• Minimum of 2 major holidays coverage required
• May be required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
• Facility may call off shifts without penalty for low census, with 48 hours notice
• Candidates must live outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• A 13-week break is required between assignments for returning travelers
• RTO must be submitted with the application and is not added to the end of the contract
