American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) for a night shift contract at a Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee. The role requires 1+ year of experience, BLS/ACLS, and active license as applicable.

You will work with a team across units, using Epic EMR and Pyxis, with 12-hour nights and weekend rotation. Responsibilities include vent management, ICU and ED coverage, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license as applicable.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• RRT or CRT credentials accepted.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with recent work within last year.
• Must provide a professional reference from past year.
• Middle name or initial required for consideration; DOB and last 4 SSN may be requested.

Responsibilities

• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Care for geriatrics and adults, with some pediatric cases in ED.
• Caseload typically 10–15 on general floor, 6–8 in ICU.
• EMR: Epic; Pyxis medication dispensing.
• Operate unit equipment including AVEA, Servo U, LPU 1200, Parapack MRI, Hamilton transports.
• Weekend rotation every other weekend; no on-call requirements.
• Floating to all hospital units; orientation includes NEO.
• Support from RTs, RNs, and supervision; follow fatigue policy.
• Dress code: solid color scrubs; free parking; first-time travelers welcome.
• Local candidates considered with no radius restriction; prior system employees must wait 12 months.

Requirements

• License required if applicable
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• RRT or CRT accepted
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skills required include vent management, CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer treatments, a-line placement, assisting with intubation, vent weaning, extubation, and ABGs
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration
• Candidate date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Patient population mostly geriatrics and adults, with some pediatric cases in the ED
• Typical caseload of 10-15 patients for general floor assignments and 6-8 patients for ICU assignments
• EMR: Epic
• Med dispensing via Pyxis
• Unit-specific equipment includes AVEA vents, Servo U vents, LPU 1200 vents, Parapack vents for MRI, and Hamilton vents for transport
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to all units within the hospital
• Work at a Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center with 933 beds
• Support from other RTs, RNs on the floor, and management/supervisory staff, with dayshift staffing of 13-15 RTs
• Orientation includes NEO and at least one shift to learn unit flow
• Holiday coverage assigned as needed
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Staff cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per facility fatigue policy
• Scrubs must be any solid color, professional, with no graphics, logos, or designs

• First-time travelers considered upon review
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated at least 12 months before eligible for travel assignment
