Job summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Good Samaritan provides resident-centered care in a long-term care setting under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes daily living assistance, vital signs, and ensuring comfort and safety during care activities.

Minimum age 18 and a CNA certification are required, with state-specific certification timelines. The job involves travel within a 75-mile radius and requires at least 30 hours per month with one weekend shift monthly.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Required CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing with continuing education credits.
• Dependent on facility, may be a Sanford Category II Driver with required driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• The NA provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision.
• Assists with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, transferring, and mobility as per care plan.
• Records vital signs, documents resident interactions, and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Assists with meals, hydration, and recreational activities; supports housekeeping and laundry as needed.
