Job summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Good Samaritan provides resident-centered care during the evening shift in a long-term care setting. Work includes basic nursing tasks, daily living support, vital signs, and assistance with meals and mobility under RN supervision.

Qualifications include CNA certification, GED or high school diploma, age 16+, and ongoing CE credits. The role may involve driving responsibilities and requires adherence to infection control and Sanford Driving Policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or in process within four months of date into the position.
• Annual continuing education: minimum 12 hours.
• For applicable states, certified and registered with the UAP Registry.
• May classify as Sanford Category II Driver with a motor vehicle report and valid license; must be medically qualified to drive per policy.

Responsibilities

• Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision.
• Assists with essential health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, and feeding.
• Records vital signs and supports mobility, range of motion, and transfer techniques.
• Participates in food preparation, dining, and creating a positive dining experience.
• Documents resident interactions and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Supports wellness and recreational programs and assists with housekeeping and laundry as needed.
• May participate in committees and driving responsibilities as required.
