Job summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Good Samaritan provides resident-centered care in a long-term care setting under the supervision of an RN. You will assist with daily living activities, basic health needs and support mobility while following care plans and infection control policies.

This PRN role requires a CNA certification, 18 years of age minimum, and willingness to travel within a 75-mile radius of Miller, SD.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• Colorado: Depending on facility, QMAP certification with the Colorado Dept. of Public Health & Environment required.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
• When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision.
• Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs.
• Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using proper techniques; provide ROM and passive exercises.
• Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Assist with documentation of resident interactions and communicate changes to the charge nurse.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and assist with transportation when needed.
