Job summary

TotalMed RN in Normal, IL is seeking an Operating Room travel nurse (OR RN) with 1–2 years acute care experience. The role includes circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant duties, with responsibilities spanning pre- and post-surgery care and patient education.

The traveler will support surgical teams, handle instruments, monitor during procedures, and communicate with families. Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs is expected.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years recent acute care experience as circulating or scrub OR RN
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Ability to travel for assignments and adapt to different facilities

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and surgical team in caring for patients
• Provide pre- and post-surgery patient education
• Prepare instruments and manage sterile field as applicable
• Monitor patient during surgery and respond to complications
• Communicate with patients' families as liaison
