Job summary

Alaska Regional Hospital seeks an RN for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on a 13-week onsite contract. The role involves caring for high-acuity step-down patients, with telemetry monitoring and support for rapid admissions and transfers. Eligible candidates must hold AK RN license and ACLS/BLS/NIH-SS certifications.

Typical shifts are 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with 3 days per week in a 12-hour schedule. On-site role located at 2801 Debarr Road, Anchorage, AK 99508.

Qualifications

• 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience.
• 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience.
• ACLS, BLS, NIH-SS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Day Shift – 1 charge RN & 6 RNs
• Night Shift – 1 charge RN & 6 RNs

Type of equipment – bedside monitors, alaris IV pumps, heated humidity high flow O2, Bipap, chest tubes, tracheostomy, kangaroo feeding pumps, gastric tubes, surgical drains

Typical hiring profile

Skill Set Most recruited for:

• Must have: candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.
• 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience. This is a stepdown ICU unit.
• 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience
• Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first.
• Experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPap/long term vent support
• Experience with titratable drips including: dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone
• Experience with CIWA assessments and Alcohol/Drug withdrawal treatment

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):

• Emergent cardioversion
• Any procedures requiring moderate sedation will be performed in a procedural area

Weekends and On call(if any)

Every other weekend (alternatively 4 weekend shifts [Saturday/Sunday] per month

Delayed start is utilized rather than on call shifts if census is low
