Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineer II to lead safety efforts on construction sites and champion Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program. This role involves ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors, with 100% travel and site-based responsibilities.

The Safety Engineer II will implement site-specific safety programs, conduct orientations, and analyze safety data to prevent incidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field.
• High school diploma, STS/CHST Certification, OSHA 30 Hour Training, and minimum seven years of construction safety experience.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members.
• Assist project management team in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities.
• Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level.
• Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
• Conduct work area safety audits.
• Lead data collection and trend analyses for safety indicators.
• Conduct or assist with major incident analysis.
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics.
• Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements.
