Job summary

Powell Industries seeks Field Service Technicians to ensure safety, quality and performance of Powell equipment across the US and Canada. You will install, maintain, and test switchgear and related systems, traveling across regions with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications include 2+ years in electrical/breaker tech, knowledge of ANSI C37 standards, and ability to produce clear reports. Travel up to 85% and collaboration with project teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Two or more years as a shop and/or field electrical/breaker technician.
• Basic knowledge of ANSI IEEE C37 standards for breakers and switchgear.
• Knowledge of ANSI IEEE device function numbers; ampacities in switchgear.
• Basic creepage clearance knowledge.
• Ability to write accurate test reports and explain anomalies.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Powell's safety and quality standards.
• Complete site documentation: time sheets, service orders, materials, reports.
• Communicate work schedule to Field Operations Scheduler and District Service Manager.
• Maintain flexible hours, including overtime and weekend support.
• Travel up to 85% of the year.
• Coordinate with project management, customers, vendors, and labor support.
• Assist in manufacturing support and oversee small crews on installation projects.
• Perform switchgear and PCR installations; conduct insulation, Hi-Pot, torque, and functional testing.
• Inspect vehicles and calibrated equipment/tools regularly.
