Job summary

Powell Service Division is seeking a skilled Service Technician to install, maintain and troubleshoot medium to low voltage switchgear across the US. The role demands independent problem solving, safety adherence, and effective communication with field operations and customers.

Expect to travel up to 85% yearly and operate with company-provided tools, vehicle, and devices. Candidates should have 3+ years’ electrical/technician experience and factory training commitments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 3+ years’ electrical/technician experience.
• Experience with electrical industry manufacturing standards.
• Knowledge of ANSI IEEE C37 related to breakers and switchgear.
• Experience writing accurate test reports and project summaries.
• Willingness to travel up to 85% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety and quality standards.
• Complete site documentation (time sheets, service/repair orders, materials used).
• Communicate work schedule to Field Operations Scheduler and District Service Manager.
• Maintain flexible hours including overtime and weekends.
• Coordinate with project management, customers, vendors, and labor support.
• Switchgear and PCR installations; DC/AC switchgear.
• Perform insulation, hi-pot, torque and functional testing.
• Inspect vehicles and calibrated equipment/tools.
