Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years as Lead Travel Director, managing groups from 50 to 500 participants.
  • Experience handling domestic and international destinations.
  • Strong public speaking abilities are a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and people skills for client and vendor interactions.
  • Positive, customer-service oriented demeanor under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee travel staff and program onsite, interfacing with executive clients and suppliers.
  • Ensure Landmark’s program operations and travel details meet high industry standards and professionalism.
  • Lead scheduling, staff assignments, and communications for the Hospitality Desk and participants.
  • Coordinate with hotels, cruises, airlines, and other suppliers to ensure timely, accurate service.
  • Reconcile all on-site billing and ensure accurate charges for submission within deadlines.
  • Prepare departure/return information for the group and liaise with suppliers for smooth departures.
  • Attend pre-trip meetings and lead post-trip reviews and staff evaluations.

Job description

A Lead Travel Director oversees all travel staff and the entire program onsite interfacing with executive clients and suppliers in order to execute a highly successful travel program. In this role, it is the sole responsibility of the Lead Travel Director to ensure that Landmark’s program operation and travel details are met with the highest industry standards and utmost professionalism.

Reports To: Travel Director Manager

Responsibilities Include:

  • Must always be prepared for and supervise all functions and activities including hotels and cruises against any challenges, adversity, changes to handle with finesse and professionalism.
  • Must be able to manage staff, their responsibilities with daily staff meetings and resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Understand coping with clients of all types and levels as well as travel participants of all types.
  • Sets the schedule for the Hospitality Desk and assigning staff and guidelines as well as any participant notices, welcome letters, letters from executives, etc.
  • Can work closely with all suppliers onsite to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and highest levels of service for all tours, events, functions, hotel, airlines, etc.
  • All billing reconciliation onsite and ensuring accuracy in all financial charges with final submission to office within company deadlines.
  • Responsible for preparing all departure and return information for entire group – and working with all suppliers to ensure a smooth departure.
  • Attend required pre-trip meetings to become knowledgeable about important details after a period of studying all advance memorandum.
  • Lead Post Trip Review and prepare Post Trip Report and Staff Evaluations after the trip is complete.
Job Skills Required:
  • Minimum of 5 years Lead Travel Director experience with groups of varying sizes from 50 – 500 persons.
  • Domestic and international destination experience.
  • Confidence with public speaking a plus.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Positive disposition in high customer service.
