Job summary

Safe Harbor in Seneca, SC, seeks a full-time Shelter Advocate to provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy within the shelter program. You will support survivors in safety planning, resource navigation, and goal attainment, coordinating with partners and internal programs.

The role requires compassionate communication, ability to work evenings, and confidentiality. A bachelor's degree is preferred; one year of relevant advocacy experience is ideal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field preferred; associate degree or relevant experience will be considered.
• One year of relevant advocacy, human services, crisis intervention, or related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics and trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches.
• Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial intake and assessment to identify needs, safety concerns, and service pathways.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized safety plans with survivors.
• Provide trauma-informed advocacy, crisis intervention, education, and referrals.
• Assist survivors with housing, employment, healthcare, legal services, transportation, and basic needs.
• Coordinate move-outs, transitions, and family supports as needed.
• Maintain confidential documentation and accurate client records.
