Job summary

Safe Harbor SC seeks a Part-time Client Support Specialist to join the Shelter Operations and Client Support Team. You will provide trauma-informed support, maintain a structured, welcoming shelter environment, and manage a small caseload of clients.

You will conduct regular check-ins, document interactions, assist with shelter tasks, and coordinate with the Advocacy Team. Prior experience in shelter settings and strong communication are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in shelter, residential, or communal living environments preferred.
• Trauma-informed care and structured support approaches are valued.
• Strong communication, documentation, and follow-through skills.
• Computer literacy to navigate client databases and documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Carry a caseload of assigned clients and provide trauma-informed support focused on shelter engagement and emotional well-being.
• Document all support interactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Support shelter operations tasks and room readiness.
• Refer clients to the Advocacy Team for related needs.
• Respond calmly to moments of emotional distress and use de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
