Job summary

FamilyWise is hiring a Family Specialist to join a multidisciplinary team delivering parent education and therapeutic coaching to clients referred by county systems. Services occur in-home or at community sites in a 1:1 format with parents or families, aiming to reduce child abuse and improve parenting skills.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field (or 2-year degree with experience), 2–3 years in child development or parenting services, and willingness to work evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in related human service field or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of experience in child development or parenting services.
• Bilingual abilities in Hmong, Somali, or Spanish valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide parent education and therapeutic coaching to clients 1:1 or in-home.
• Assess family social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
• Teach parenting sessions using established curricula.
• Prepare timely monthly written reports.
• Coordinate with county workers, partners, and stakeholders.
• Develop service plans and attend collateral meetings.
• Lead monthly parenting groups and travel within 15 miles.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development

2-year degree + 2+ years parenting services experience

Bilingual (Hmong, Somali, Spanish) valued

Strong organizational skills

Excellent written and oral communication

Ability to travel to client sites (within 15 miles)

Availability for evenings and weekends
