Job summary

The YWCA of Western Massachusetts in Springfield, MA is seeking a Direct Service Advocate for the Springfield Young Parent Program. This full-time role provides support, advocacy, and role modeling to participants living in residential programs, with a trauma-informed, empowerment-focused approach.

Shift is 3pm-11pm, 37.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $21 per hour and a strong commitment to safety, family engagement, and community coordination.

Qualifications

• Minimum A.A. or equivalent education or experience in a human service field.
• Experience in a Domestic Violence Setting is preferred.
• Experience with survivors of gender-based violence and exploitation is preferred.
• Access to reliable transportation and valid driver's license is required.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and advocacy to participants living in residential programs.
• Encourage life skills, parenting and family engagement through group or 1:1 formats.
• Maintain safety by following policies and completing required safety sweeps.
• Provide orientation and emotional support to new participants.
• Prepare rooms for new families within 1-2 shifts and document data using AWARDS logs.
• Engage with participants and their children to promote empowerment and well-being.
