Job summary

YWCA of Western Massachusetts seeks a Direct Service Advocate for the Holyoke Youth Parent Program in Springfield, MA. The role is full-time, 11pm–7am, with a 1:6 staff-to-child ratio and trauma-informed, family-driven services in residential settings.

Starting at $21.00/hour, the DSA provides advocacy, basic care, and data documentation while supporting mothers and children. Candidates should have an AA or equivalent in human services and some counseling or DV experience.

Qualifications

• A.A. or equivalent education or experience in a human service field (Required)
• One year of counseling and direct service experience (Preferred)
• Experience with victims of domestic violence (Preferred)
• Reliable transportation, safe driving record, and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Nurture and support a milieu approach that is participant-guided, family-driven, strengths-based, and trauma-informed; engage with 100% of individuals and families on-site each shift.
• Encourage and support the development of life skills, positive parenting and improved parent-child interaction
• Follow and encourage the programs daily schedule and facilitate resident participation and community responsibilities
• Ensure program procedures, rules, regulations and policies are followed to ensure a safe and supportive living environment
• Prepare rooms for new families within 1-2 shifts from previous exit
• Provide daily information as it relates to data collection and outcome measurements through AWARDS logs
• Complete all documentation prior to end of shift
• Observe new staff during orientation and participate in shadowing
• Maintain thorough shift-to-shift communication
• Support mothers and children during crises and supervision
• Conduct safety checks and complete required safety checks
• Attend staff meetings, supervision and trainings
• Maintain facility chores and upkeep during shifts
• Keep 1:6 staff to child ratio at all times
• Work holiday shifts as needed
• Maintain professional conduct at all times
• Perform other duties as needed
