Job summary

The YWCA of Western Massachusetts is seeking a Direct Service Advocate for the Springfield Young Parent Program. This full-time role (3pm-11pm) offers a starting wage of $21.00 per hour, with a 37.5 hour per week schedule and non-exempt status.

The incumbent will provide support, advocacy, and role modeling to participants in residential programs, emphasizing trauma-informed, family-driven care. Primary responsibilities include facilitating parenting and life-skill development, ensuring safety

Qualifications

• AA or equivalent education or experience in a human service field, preferred.
• At least one year of counseling and direct service experience.
• Experience in a domestic violence setting and with survivors of gender-based violence.

Responsibilities

• Nurture a participant-guided, trauma-informed milieu with 100% on-site engagement each shift.
• Support development of life skills and parenting through1:1 or group formats.
• Follow daily schedules and facilitate resident participation and community responsibilities.
• Provide 85% direct service time with residents and their children.
• Perform safety checks and ensure safe living environment, including 4+ safety sweeps per shift.
• Complete required documentation and AWARDS logs before end of shift.
• Provide transportation to residents when needed and ensure safety policies.
