Job summary

The YWCA of Western Massachusetts is seeking a Direct Service Advocate to support families in its Springfield Young Parent Program. This part-time role involves trauma-informed, client-centered service, 100% on-site interaction, and collaboration with clinicians and peers to empower survivors of gender-based violence.

Responsibilities include nurturing life skills, coordinating activities, and ensuring safety and confidentiality while providing transportation as needed and maintaining detailed

Qualifications

• A.A. or equivalent education or experience in a human service field preferred.
• At least one year of counseling and direct service experience.
• Experience in a domestic violence setting and with survivors of gender-based violence.
• Ability to address impacts on multiple communities; valid driver’s license and insurance coverage.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, advocacy, and role modeling to adult, teen and child participants.
• Engage participants on-site with face-to-face interaction and 1:1 or group activities.
• Follow program schedule, safety checks, and 100% documentation requirements.
• Assist with child care and supervision; support mothers during crises.
• Transport residents as required and maintain confidentiality.
