Texas Panhandle Centers in Amarillo, TX is seeking a full-time technician to engage individuals with mental health and substance use needs at the Diversion Center. Expect shifts across weekdays, weeknights, and weekends, plus on-call coverage.

Duties include initial engagement with clients, building rapid rapport, and maintaining a safe, trauma-informed environment. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus some college coursework or ABLE reading level.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work or ABLE reading level required.
  • Ability to stay composed in crisis situations.
  • Willingness to work with Law Enforcement and community stakeholders.
  • 2FA may be used with personal mobile devices.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ethical, professional communications using trauma-informed language.
  • Full-time shifts including weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.
  • On-call rotation to cover shifts as needed.
  • Engage individuals served at Diversion Center using trauma-informed, person-centered approach.
  • Build rapid rapport and trust with clients in crisis.
  • Create a safe, supportive environment using trauma-informed care principles.
  • Assist with transport, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean Diversion Center environment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary Diversion Center team.
  • Adhere to the Texas Panhandle Centers Business Code of Conduct.
