Job summary

St. Charles Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to manage daily patient flow and collect information for physician assessments. The role supports triage, data recording, and basic clinical procedures under physician guidance.

Required: High school diploma or GED; MA certification candidates from AMT/NCCT/AAMA/NAHP/NHA or Oregon clinical licensure; BLS CPR certification. Preferred: graduate of an accredited MA program.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems.
• Basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and meet HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares for physician assessment.
• Records and maintains patient's medical data in patient's medical chart.
• Assists physician with phone requests from patients and/or other medical professionals and institutions.
• Performs a variety of physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures (excludes IV medication).
• Maintains equipment, instruments supply inventory levels.
• Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
• Supports Lean principles of continuous improvement and acts as a champion of change.
• Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
• Conducts activities with professionalism and confidentiality, complying with laws and policies, and reporting violations.
• Delivers customer service and/or patient care timely, efficiently, and accurately.
• May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization.
