Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Technician II to apply standard inspection procedures on ongoing transportation projects in the Wilkesboro, North Carolina area. The role focuses on quality, safety, and conformance to plans and specifications.

This full-time position offers statewide opportunities in NC and requires an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology, plus 2 years of field experience; NCDOT certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field.
• Two or more years of progressive technician-level field experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Perform routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s diaries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
