Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is actively seeking a Transportation Technician II to apply standard inspection procedures on roadway and bridge projects in North Carolina, ensuring conformance to plans and safety standards. This position is field‑oriented with statewide opportunities and requires an Associate degree and related experience.

The role involves material testing, documentation, and measuring quantities while adhering to project specifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum and two years of progressive technician level experience.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
• NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
• 4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of contractor’s operations on a variety of transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications
• Perform routine material testing
• Measure and track quantities of pay items
• Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries
• Perform other related duties as assigned
