Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Transportation Technician II to apply inspection procedures on road and bridge projects for quality and safety. Field work, moderate physical activity, and occasional nights/weekends are expected.

This role involves statewide opportunities and a focus on measurement, recordkeeping, and conformance to plans and specs. Requires an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology with two years of technician experience; NC

Qualifications

Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field.
Two years of progressive technician-level experience.
Experience analyzing highway construction plans.
NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Density Testing preferred.
4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
Perform routine material testing.
Measure and track quantities of pay items.
Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
