Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Technician II in North Carolina to apply standard inspection procedures on roadway and bridge projects, verify conformance to plans and specifications, and support quality and safety on site.

Candidates typically hold an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology with 2+ years of field inspection experience; a valid driver’s license is required; NCDOT certifications are preferred; TN visa not available; multiple

Qualifications

Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related; two years of progressive technician level experience, or equivalent.
Active driver’s license is required.
Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform inspection of contractor’s operations on roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
Perform routine material testing.
Measure and track quantities of pay items.
Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
