Job summary

Baxter & Woodman Inc. in Peoria Heights, IL is seeking a transportation engineer to lead and develop IDOT and Local Agency projects. The role focuses on design leadership, plan production, and coordination across municipal, county, and state clients.

The position requires 10+ years’ experience with Phase II bid documents, PE licensure, and proficiency in Microstation/Open Roads Designer. Travel across Illinois is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience completing IDOT or Local Agency Phase II bid documents.
• Microstation/Open Roads Designer capabilities preferred with an understanding of IDOT workflow.
• Ability to travel throughout Illinois service areas (own transportation) and attend client/ in-office meetings.
• Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.
• Team-first culture with opportunities for development and accomplishment of goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage/Complete engineering plans and specifications production using IDOT Standards.
• Manage/Complete IDOT or Local Agency Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Lead a variety of projects and study types including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
• Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist with business development and client management opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Help prepare project proposals, contract preparation, and teaming arrangements; participate in interviews.
