Job summary

Baxter & Woodman Inc. seeks a transportation engineer for multiple Illinois offices including Crystal Lake, Chicago, Naperville, Mokena, and Bannockburn. The role emphasizes design leadership and development of transportation projects for state, county, tollway, and local agencies.

Required IDOT/Local Agency Phase I & II bid document experience; PE license preferred. Travel across Illinois offices and strong teamwork are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• 5+ years’ experience completing IDOT or Local Agency Phase II bid documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel throughout Illinois service areas and attend meetings.

Responsibilities

• Manage/Complete engineering plans and specifications production using IDOT Standards.
• Manage/Complete IDOT or Local Agency Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Lead projects and study types including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
• Provide general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist with business development and client management opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare project proposals, contracts, teaming arrangements, and participate in project interviews.
