Fehr & Peers invites qualified students to join our internship program focused on developing transportation planning and engineering skills. Interns work on projects across planning, modeling, and community engagement, gaining real-world experience with staff guidance and feedback.

Applicants should be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in relevant fields and demonstrate proficiency in required software.

Qualifications

Strong interest or knowledge of transportation planning/engineering principles and practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and presentation skills.
A passion for partnering with and serving the local communities.
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a related field.
Proficiency in listed software/tools and openness to new technologies.

Responsibilities

Analyze and solve complex transportation planning or engineering problems.
Communicate clearly in oral and written form, including in community engagement settings.
Use software effectively and provide timely, informed recommendations.
Work on projects across traffic operations, bicycle/pedestrian planning, freight movement, travel demand modeling, transit planning, and regional plans.
Adopt new tools/technologies while maintaining professional judgment and accountability for results.
