Job summary

Fehr & Peers is seeking motivated interns in transportation planning to assist with analyses, modeling, and community engagement. You will collaborate with staff at all levels on projects and gain exposure to traffic operations, bicycle/pedestrian planning, freight movement, and regional transportation plans.

Preferred candidates are enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in civil engineering, transportation or urban planning, with strong communication skills and proficiency in GIS tools

Qualifications

• Strong interest or knowledge of transportation planning/engineering principles and practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and presentation skills.
• A passion for partnering with and serving the local communities.
• Completion or current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in relevant fields.
• Proficiency in software tools such as ArcGIS, Excel, SketchUp, or traffic operations modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Analyze/solve complex transportation planning or engineering problems
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, including in a community engagement setting
• Use software effectively and make timely and informed recommendations
• Work on a variety of projects such as traffic operations simulations, bicycle/pedestrian plans, and travel demand modeling
• Embrace new tools/technologies and maintain professional judgment and accountability for results
