Job summary

Fehr & Peers in San Francisco is seeking motivated interns to support transportation planning projects and learn through hands-on experience across a range of analyses and community engagement activities. Interns work closely with staff at all levels and take on tasks similar to entry-level professionals.

The program offers flexible duration (semester, summer, or year) and continuous feedback to aid career development.

Qualifications

Strong interest or knowledge of transportation planning/engineering principles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and presentation skills.
A passion for partnering with and serving local communities.
Enrollment in bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, ArcGIS, or traffic/transport modeling software.
Openness to using new technologies while maintaining professional judgement.

Responsibilities

Analyze/solve complex transportation planning or engineering problems
Communicate clearly, orally and in writing, including in community engagement settings
Use software effectively and provide timely, informed recommendations
Work on projects like traffic operations simulations, bicycle/pedestrian plans, freight movement, and travel demand modeling
Learn and adopt new tools and technologies while maintaining accountability for results
