Job summary

Fehr & Peers is offering a transportation intern program designed to develop practical skills through semester, summer, or year-long engagements. You will work on real-world projects alongside staff, performing analysis, communicating findings, and using industry software.

Interns will receive continuous feedback and gain exposure to entry-level tasks across transportation planning disciplines, from modeling to community outreach, while aligning with office needs and your availability.

Qualifications

Strong interest or knowledge of transportation planning/engineering principles and practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and presentation skills.
A passion for partnering with and serving local communities.
Completion or current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in related fields.
Proficiency with listed software/tools or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Analyze/solve complex transportation planning problems.
Communicate clearly both oral and written, including in community settings.
Use software effectively and provide timely recommendations.
Work on traffic operations simulations, bike/pedestrian plans, freight, transit planning, and regional plans.
Learn and adopt new tools while maintaining professional judgment and accountability.
