Job summary

TxDOT Fort Worth District seeks a Transportation Maintenance Spec VI to lead a crew in Stephenville. You will coordinate personnel, equipment, and materials for roadway maintenance projects, reporting to the Maintenance Section Supervisor and guiding daily operations that affect public roadways.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
• 5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
• Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist during accidents and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs, and organize response of crews.
• Assists in administration of the maintenance section.
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments.
• Inspects roads while en route to and from job site and reports problems to supervisors.
• Maintains records on materials and equipment used and employee time sheets.
• Operates light and heavy equipment.
• Oversees the work of designated maintenance inspectors and sign technicians.
• Performs some maintenance and repair on equipment and trains crew members on the use of equipment.
• Serves as a lead worker by scheduling daily work assignments; serving as a resource for complex questions and troubleshooting of problems; presenting operational updates to the supervisor; providing input on team members’ career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operational coverage.
