Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Fort Worth District seeks a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief for the Stephenville Maintenance Office. You will lead a crew, coordinate personnel and equipment, and support daily operations to keep roadways safe and reliable.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent.
• 5 years experience in roadway maintenance; substitution by related education or training considered.

Position Information TxDOT Fort Worth District is looking for a motivated and driven Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief to join the team at the Stephenville Maintenance Office. Leads a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators performing skilled transportation maintenance activities. Reports to a maintenance section supervisor and assists in administration of the maintenance section. Work requires responding to emergency notification on an as needed basis. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

• Assists during accidents and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs, and
  organize response of crews
• Assists in administration of the maintenance section
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments
• Inspects roads while en route to and from job site and reports problems to supervisors
• Maintains records on materials and equipment used and employee time sheets
• Operates light and heavy equipment.
• Oversees the work of designated maintenance inspectors and sign technicians
• Performs some maintenance and repair on equipment and trains crew members on the use of equipment
• Serves as a lead worker by scheduling daily work assignments; serving as a resource for complex questions and
  troubleshooting of problems; presenting operational updates to the supervisor; providing input on team members’ career
  conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operational coverage
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.

Experience:

5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
