Volkert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer in Training to support our Gulf Region across Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering and an EIT credential, with 2–4 years of traffic or roadway design experience.

Candidates should be familiar with DOT design standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO, and be prepared to work with OpenRoads Designer. The position involves data collection, traffic studies, plan development, and collaboration with clients.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• EIT certification required.
• 2–4 years of traffic or roadway design experience.
• Familiarity with DOT design standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Pre-employment drug screen is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data for project plans and reports.
• Assist with traffic impact studies and safety studies.
• Prepare roadway design plans using OpenRoads Designer.
• Develop traffic signal plans for intersections and multimodal projects.
• Contribute to project reports, estimates, specifications, and schedules.
• Attend project meetings with clients.
• Learn project budgets and potentially assist in business development.
