Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer in Training to support a Gulf Region spanning Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

The role requires 2–4 years in traffic or roadway design and an EIT certification with a BS in Civil Engineering. You will collect data, assist with traffic studies, and prepare roadway plans using OpenRoads Designer while contributing to project budgets and client meetings.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• EIT certification required or in progress.
• 2–4 years of experience in traffic or roadway design.
• Familiarity with DOT design standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and maintain a safe workplace.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data for inclusion in project plans and reports.
• Assist with traffic impact studies, safety studies, and corridor planning.
• Prepare roadway design plans using OpenRoads Designer.
• Develop traffic signal plans and multimodal accommodations.
• Contribute to quantities, costs, specs, and project schedules.
• Attend project meetings with clients and learn budgets.
