Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer in Training to support our Gulf Region across Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The role requires at least 2 years in traffic or roadway design and a BS in Civil Engineering with an EIT.

You will collect data, help with studies, and contribute to roadway design projects using OpenRoads Designer. This position offers exposure to multimodal planning, traffic signal timing, and involvement in client meetings, budgets, and potential

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• EIT certification required.
• 2-4 years of experience in traffic or roadway design.
• Familiarity with DOT standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO.
• Pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid driver's license and MVR.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data for project plans and reports.
• Assist with traffic impact studies and safety analyses.
• Prepare roadway design plans using OpenRoads Designer.
• Develop traffic signal design plans for intersections.
• Create TMPs and signing and pavement marking plans.
• Assist in preparing intersection layouts and signal timings.
• Contribute to reports, estimates, specs, and schedules.
• Attend project meetings and support BD activities.
