Job summary
Texas Department of Transportation in Houston seeks Transportation Engineer I/II to perform planning, design, construction and operations work across multiple functions. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science is required.
- 4 years engineering/transportation experience for Engineer I; 5 years for Engineer II.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or required per Texas rules.
Responsibilities
- Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.
- Drives to project sites for on-site reviews and technical support.
- Interprets manuals and guidelines for traffic operations.
- Leads and trains professional and administrative staff.
- Performs engineering design work: layouts, sketches, plans, specs, estimates and contracts.
- Provides drainage design and hydrology-related assistance.
- Represents the district/division at meetings.
- Applies project management principles for transportation projects.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
