Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans, the incumbent performs a variety of engineering tasks in office and field settings. Responsibilities include ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents (Standard Plans, Specifications, and Provisions), supporting field engineers, and potentially acting as an Assistant Resident Engineer or Resident Engineer. Work ranges from average to high difficulty levels.

This position is for the Riverside County Field Office only; see the separate advertisement for San Bernardino County.

Candidates must review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs). If MQs are met under Pattern II and a TE Civil in-person written exam is required, do not take the online exam before passing the written exam, as it may affect eligibility. Minimum Requirements

• Valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board for appointment to Range D; for other ranges, a PE license is not required.
• Valid driver’s license required for operating state vehicles.
• Verification of MQs will be done before interview/appointment. Foreign degrees require an evaluation report from an approved agency; see https://www.naces.org/members or https://aice-eval.org.
