Position Title: Transportation Engineer (Civil) - Inspector/Construction Support

Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer at Caltrans, the incumbent performs a variety of engineering tasks in office and field environments. Responsibilities include ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents such as Standard Plans, Specifications, and Provisions, and supporting field engineers. The role may involve acting as an Assistant or Resident Engineer or leading a team. The work ranges from moderate to high difficulty.
This position is specifically for the Riverside County Field Office in the Division of Construction. Please refer to the separate advertisement for San Bernardino County.
Candidates must review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If MQs are met under Pattern II and a TE Civil in-person written exam is required, do not take the online exam before passing the written test, as it may affect eligibility. The position is located at 119 North Maple, Suite A&U, Corona, CA. The role involves indoor and outdoor work, including exposure to weather, traffic, and hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment is mandatory. The position may require travel, overtime, and night work, and could involve work in remote or metropolitan areas. Telework may be available at departmental discretion.
A 24-33 month rotation program provides diverse project experience, including design and construction. Long-term travel and statewide assignments are possible. Temporary loan to other units may be required.
Verification of qualifications will be conducted prior to appointment. Foreign degrees must include an evaluation report indicating U.S. equivalency. Visit NACES or AICE for evaluation services.
