West Virginia is seeking a Transportation Engineer to serve as Area Construction Engineer for Kanawha, Putnam, Mason, Boone and Clay counties. The role involves planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of highways and related facilities. The Transportation Engineer in this position will act as the Area Construction Engineer serving Kanawha, Putnam, Mason, Boone, and Clay counties. Performs engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of highways and their attendant facilities and structures. Work is performed within a defined framework of policy, but the incumbent independently makes engineering decisions within that framework and may make or assist in making broad decisions in setting objectives and goals. Performs related work as required.

TRAINING/EDUCATION
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia (or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain WV P.E. registration by comity within 6 months of hire)
Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.

EXPERIENCE
Seven + (7) years of progressive, professional civil engineering experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred experience: At least three (3) years of post-licensure experience performing complex design/construction management or supervisory engineering duties.
