West Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Engineer to serve as Area Construction Engineer for Kanawha, Putnam, Mason, Boone, and Clay counties. The role covers planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of highways and related facilities.
Qualified candidates will hold a WV P.E. license (or be eligible for comity within 6 months) and possess a ABET-accredited degree. Travel may be required and a valid driver’s license is essential.

The Transportation Engineer in this position will act as the Area Construction Engineer serving Kanawha, Putnam, Mason, Boone, and Clay counties. Performs engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of highways and their attendant facilities and structures. Work is performed within a defined framework of policy, but the incumbent independently makes engineering decisions within that framework and may make or assist in making broad decisions in setting objectives and goals. Performs related work as required.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia (or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain WV P.E. registration by comity within 6 months of hire)
Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.

Seven + (7) years of progressive, professional civil engineering experience.
Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.
At least three (3) years of post-licensure experience performing complex design/construction management or supervisory engineering duties.
