Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) in drainage to lead hydrology and hydraulic design for DOT transportation projects. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, interface with state/local agencies, and help prepare proposals and budgets.

Ideal candidates have 4–7 years of hydraulics design experience, proficiency with MicroStation and ORD, and strong communication skills. This role may involve local work and collaboration across offices.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• 4–7 years of hydraulics design experience including roadway drainage and flood control facilities.
• Experience with DOT, AASHTO, and FHWA highway drainage design criteria and guidelines.
• Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrology and hydraulic design for DOT projects (bridges, roadways, highways, freeways).
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to complete projects.
• Interface with state and local agencies.
• Coordinate meetings with project stakeholders.
• Coordinate resources with office management and other project managers.
• Assist in proposal preparation including oral presentations.
• Prepare scope, schedule, and budget for new projects.
• Meet project deadlines.
