Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Professional Engineer to lead hydrology and hydraulic design on DOT transportation projects. You will prepare studies, plans and cost estimates, and work with a team of engineers, technicians and project managers.

You will interface with state and local agencies, coordinate stakeholder meetings, and help develop proposals with defined scope, schedule and budgets. Strong communication and deadline discipline are essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering.
• PE license required.
• 8–12 years hydraulics design experience incl. roadway drainage & flood control facilities.
• Experience with transportation and flood control agencies preferred.
• Proficient with MicroStation & ORD.
• Proficient with ORD Drainage & Utilities, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC-HMS & HEC-RAS.
• Knowledge of DOT, AASHTO & FHWA criteria; strong communication.
• Able to manage multiple projects & meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform and direct hydraulics & hydrology design for DOT projects (bridges, roads, highways).
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specs & cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, technicians & staff to complete projects.
• Interface with state/local agencies and coordinate stakeholder meetings.
• Coordinate resource sharing with other offices and managers.
• Assist in proposals including oral presentations; define scope, schedule & budget.
