Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Technical Manager to lead the North Dakota transportation design team, delivering quality projects while growing technical talent and client relationships across the state.

The role blends project delivery with people leadership in a seller-doer model, reporting to an Associate Director and partnering with managers, PMs, and subject-matter experts to strengthen Ulteig's transportation business.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering, Planning or related field is required.
• Civil Professional Engineer licensure preferred; PTOE, AICP may be considered.
• Minimum 8+ years of transportation engineering and related experience.
• Experience supporting NDDOT/local agency clients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead billable transportation design work through planning, design, and construction support phases.
• Provide technical guidance for roadway design, corridor improvements, and safety-focused solutions.
• Support client relationships, project pursuits, and align scope, schedule, and budget with business goals.
• Review project deliverables (drawings, calculations, specs, estimates, reports) for quality and compliance.
• Develop staff through coaching, performance feedback, and career development conversations.
• Collaborate with project managers and leaders to balance workload and opportunities.
