Job summary

Civil Science is seeking a Transportation Design Division Manager in North Dakota to lead and grow our transportation design practice. You will guide project managers, oversee multiple projects, and shape the direction of the division in a growing market.

This senior, client‑facing leadership role requires a licensed Civil Engineer who can balance technical excellence with operational oversight, drive business development, mentor staff, and uphold QA/QC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license for North Dakota required.
• 10+ years of experience in transportation design or related infrastructure.
• Experience managing teams and leading complex projects.
• Strong understanding of project management principles (budgeting, scheduling, QA/QC).
• Experience working with NDDOT and/or public agency clients.
• Proficiency in relevant design and production tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Transportation Design Division, including project managers and design staff.
• Oversee multiple transportation design projects with quality, schedule, and budget focus.
• Serve as senior client contact for transportation-related work.
• Support business development through client relationships and pursuits.
• Collaborate with leadership to grow the division and expand market presence.
• Mentor and develop staff to foster a high-performing team.
• Ensure QA/QC processes and high-quality project delivery.
• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on project oversight.
