Job summary

Civil Science, a 100% employee-owned engineering firm, is seeking a driven Transportation Design Division Manager in North Dakota to lead and grow our transportation design practice. This leadership role balances technical excellence with client-facing oversight and division growth.

Based in North Dakota, you will guide project managers, oversee multiple projects, mentor staff, and drive QA/QC and business development while maintaining a strong culture of ownership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license for North Dakota required.
• 10+ years of experience in transportation design or related infrastructure.
• Experience managing teams and leading complex projects.
• Strong understanding of project management principles (budgeting, scheduling, QA/QC).
• Experience working with NDDOT and/or public agency clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Transportation Design Division, including project managers and design staff.
• Oversee multiple transportation design projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget performance.
• Serve as a senior client contact for transportation-related work.
• Support and drive business development efforts, including client relationships and pursuits.
• Collaborate with leadership to grow the transportation division and expand market presence.
• Mentor and develop staff, fostering a strong team culture and technical excellence.
• Ensure consistent application of QA/QC processes and high-quality project delivery.
• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in project oversight.
