Job summary

Ulteig seeks a Technical Manager for the North Dakota Transportation Design Team. This leader will stay engaged in billable project work while guiding the design team, shaping client relationships, and advancing pursuits.

The role blends technical leadership with people development to grow capabilities and deliver high-quality transportation projects. You will mentor engineers, manage client expectations, and collaborate with project managers, account managers, and marketing to position Ulteig

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Civil PE licensure preferred; PTOE/AICP considered depending on background.
• 8+ years of experience in transportation engineering, roadway design, traffic, planning, or related field.
• Experience with NDDOT/local agency projects preferred.
• Ability to lead technical work while mentoring staff.
• Interest in seller-doer leadership including billable project delivery and client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support, and review transportation design work through planning, design, proposal, and construction phases.
• Provide technical guidance for roadway design, corridor improvements, safety-focused changes, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Support NDDOT and local agency projects by clarifying requirements, quality standards, and client priorities.
• Review drawings, calculations, specifications, estimates, and reports; ensure adherence to Ulteig standards.
• Mentor staff and develop engineers through meaningful project roles.
