Bolton & Menk, Inc. in Duluth, MN is seeking an entry-level Design Engineer (EIT) to support our Transportation team.

You will assist project managers in design and construction activities for transportation projects, developing the necessary skills to advance in infrastructure engineering. The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, EIT or eligibility within 12 months, and familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation) and traffic software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or able to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Prior experience in infrastructure design and/or construction observation preferred.
• Working knowledge of CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation).
• Developing knowledge of traffic software (SYNCHRO, SIMTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM).
• Frequent travel during construction season; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on transportation projects.
• Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, and rough drafts of reports and studies.
• Assist with project plans, specifications, and quantity take-off estimates.
• Assist with traffic studies related to operations, safety, and access management.
• Assist with design of traffic control devices including signals, signing, and pavement markings; ITS and lighting.
