BKF, a multi-service infrastructure consulting firm, seeks an Area Lead - Transportation Design to drive market growth across Northern California. You will lead major transportation pursuits, shape delivery strategies, and nurture key client relationships across offices and disciplines.

The role emphasizes collaboration with regional leadership, development of technical talent, and strong performance in project delivery, budget oversight, and KPI achievement. A California PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience focused on managing projects.
• Demonstrated experience in business development and client relationship management.
• Credibility as a doer-seller, combining market leadership with project delivery expertise.
• Strong track record of leading teams and managing multiple projects.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute BKF Transportation’s market strategy in Northern California, including pipeline development, pursuit performance, sales, and backlog.
• Collaborate with other BKF units to provide integrated client solutions while leading transportation design opportunities.
• Personally lead major pursuits for highway, municipal, transit, and airport projects.
• Serve as the primary BKF Transportation contact with agency executives and program leaders in Northern California (North Bay and Sacramento Valley).
• Identify opportunities years in advance of procurement, shaping scope and delivery strategy.
