Job summary

BKF is seeking an Area Lead - Transportation Design to oversee and grow our transportation design service in Northern California. You will drive market growth, client development, project delivery, and team leadership, serving as the primary liaison with transportation agencies and stakeholders in the North Bay and Sacramento Valley.

The role requires a minimum of 12 years in engineering with project management, strong client relations, and proven success leading major transportation pursuits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field is required.
• PE license in California preferred.
• Experience with state, regional, and local transportation agencies is required.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in the engineering industry with a focus on managing projects.
• Demonstrated experience in business development and client relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute BKF’s Transportation market strategy in Northern California with pipeline development, pursuit performance, sales, and backlog.
• Lead engineering teams to deliver projects on time and within budget across multiple projects.
• Develop and maintain client relationships to support business growth and new opportunities.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
• Oversee day-to-day operations across offices or teams within the area and monitor performance metrics.
