Job summary

BKF Engineers seeks an Area Lead - Transportation Design to oversee and grow the firm’s transportation design services in Northern California. You will drive market strategy, client development, and project delivery, reporting to the Transportation Design Regional Lead.

This role emphasizes strong leadership, strategic pursuits, and cross-office collaboration to meet regional goals. The position requires deep experience in transportation design, a proven track record in major pursuits, and the

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• 12+ years of engineering project leadership experience.
• Proven track record in transportation project pursuits.
• CA PE license preferred; established relationships with CA transportation agencies.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute BKF's Transportation's market strategy in Northern California, including pipeline, pursuits, and backlog.
• Lead and shape major transportation projects (highway, municipal, transit, airports).
• Coordinate with other BKF units for integrated client solutions and opportunities.
• Oversee day-to-day area operations and ensure policy adherence across offices.
• Develop and mentor staff, drive teamwork and performance against KPIs.
